Day #111

This will (hopefully) be a quick post since Alice and I are getting up in less than 6 hours for our train to Prague (on which we will hopefully be able to sleep, but still).

We attempted to visit the cemetery today, but the teams were being iffy and after riding it for about 1/4 of the way... The line terminated. We decided to cut our losses, and walked back to the center of town. On the way, we stopped in H&M #1 for the day (#3 in Vienna). When we got back to the city center, we stopped by Cafe Griensteidl, an adorable coffee shop (Vienna is known for their coffee, so we knew we had to sample some before we left). This place came highly recommended from one of my friends at the University of Kent, who lives in Vienna. Sure enough, it was absolutely delicious- and I usually prefer tea! (Though it should be noted that I didn't actually get anything with any coffee in it........shhhhh)

We walked around for a bit (saw some horses), and went into H&M #2 of the day (#4 in Vienna- are you keeping count?) to warm up for a bit, then found a late lunch on the main street. We were still a little early to get in line for the standing room Opéra tickets, so we walked around the opera part of the city where we warmed up again in H&M #3 of the day (#5 in Vienna, this was getting ridiculous). Finally, we got in line for the opera and eventually we able to be in the front row of the standing room section!

What a great way to spend out last night in Vienna!

  1. Vienna is get! Glad that you had a wonderful time! Before we got married, Dan and his sister Bonnie and I met in Vienna and heard the Vienna Boy Choir sing on Easter Sunday. Also, we enjoyed the coffee houses and splendid architecture! Thanks for the photo of Jesus College!
