Day #105

If anyone is planning on traveling to Budapest, you should absolutely stay at the Wombat hostel. The building used to be a 5 star hotel, so everything is beautiful and the breakfast has that great cheese you can spread on your toast that comes in wedges, so really I'm not sure what more you could ever want in life.

We took a free walking tour that brought us to all the major sights- Castle Hill (which is more of a bump than a hill and which does not have a castle on top), St. Stephen's Basilica, the Chain Bridge, Fisherman's Bastion, Matthias Church, and many more. We also learned that Katy Perry's music video for her song "Firework" was filmed in Budapest on top of Castle Hill! If there was any day to feel like a plastic bag, it was today.

(The first line of her song is "do you ever feel like a plastic bag?". This is not a joke. Maybe my backup career should be song writing because apparently it's not too hard)

That's Matthias Church. Ain't it a beaut?

We walked to the Central Markeg Hall, where I purchased a much needed new purse for very cheap thanks to an ideal conversion rate, and Alice and I had some delicious lángos, which is deep fried dough you can put anything on. Think function of a crepe, but in the form of fried dough- hungary's pizza. We had cheese and sausage lángos, but you could also get sweet ones like Nutella and banana.

Lastly, we did a fabulous wine tasting tonight! It's rumored that Hungary has super awesome wine. We can now confirm that this is not a rumor. It is a fact.

Our train to Vienna leaves at 9am tomorrow morning, so it's time for me to soak up my last bit of wifi for the night. See you tomorrow!
